AN on-demand food delivery service is celebrating its fourth birthday in Southend.

Since arriving in the south Essex seaside town, Deliveroo has seen more than 120 restaurants sign up to the platform.

Deliveroo has also created jobs for over 170 residents, with the majority being the riders who deliver your food which is cooked fresh to order and delivered to your door within 30 minutes.

The company supports local businesses in Southend, with 60 per cent of its restaurant partners being local independent restaurants, creating new revenue streams for homegrown culinary talent.

Harison Foster, Deliveroo’s regional director for the UK, is pleased to have reached the milestone of four years in Southend.

He said: “Our whole team here at Deliveroo are delighted that our rapid growth in Southend over the past four years means that customers have more choice, restaurants are able to increase their revenue and riders have the opportunity to choose well-paid, flexible work.”

New data from Deliveroo reveals Friday at 6.54pm is the most popular time for Southend locals to order food through Deliveroo.

It has also been revealed that the Southend community loves American food the most, followed by Portuguese and Chinese cuisine.

The top five most popular orders are the Arigold Cheeseburger from Pier Arches Café, the Original German Doner Kebab from German Doner Kebab, the Bacon Double Cheese XL Meal from Burger King, Roo Chicken from Roosters Piri Piri and Warm Cookie Dough from Cookies & Cones Express.

Deliveroo is focused on providing the ultimate food delivery experience.

Customers have the option to schedule orders via the Deliveroo app up to one day in advance or receive food as soon as possible between noon and 11pm, and from noon on the weekends, from a variety of leading local, independent and best-loved chain restaurants.
