Three boys arrested after an imitation firearm was seen in a street were aged just 12 and 13, police have said.
Police have released some more details about the boys detained in the Clarendon Road area of Watford on Saturday.
Armed police rushed to Watford town centre after reports of a firearm being brandished and an area was sealed off by officers.
A police spokesperson said: "Police were called at around 1pm on Saturday October 17 to a report that a group of young males had been seen in possession of a firearm in the Clarendon Road area of Watford.
"Officers from the armed policing unit attended and carried out a search for the group.
"Three males were detained a short time later and an imitation handgun was recovered.
"The males, two aged 12 and one aged 13, were arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm.
"They were collected by their parents and investigations are ongoing at this time."
