Fourteen more people in East Lancashire have died with Covid-19 since figures were last updated on Tuesday afternoon.

In the last 24 hours, Blackpool Teaching Hospitals registered a further two deaths, Lancashire Teaching Hospitals six, Southport and Ormskirk four, and University Hospitals Morecambe Bay two.

That means that since yesterday, 28 people are said to have died with Covid-19 at hospitals across the county.

Of the 28 new fatalities, 14 were recorded at hospitals within East Lancashire, taking the total number of deaths at facilities managed by the East Lancashire Hospitals Trust to 388.

Six more covid-related deaths were registered at facilities within the Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, since Tuesday, which includes the Royal Preston Hospital, taking the death toll there to 351.

Two more deaths were registered at units within the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay in the last 24 hours, taking the tally at facilities managed by this trust to 273.

A total of two deaths were recorded at hospitals in Blackpool, meaning 373 people have died with Covid at facilities in that region.

And four more people are said to have died with Covid-19 recorded on their death certificate at a hospital within Southport and Ormskirk Hospitals Trust, taking the death toll there to 226.

The total number of people to have died with Covid-19 at hospitals across Lancashire since the start of the pandemic is now sitting at 1,611.
