A BRAVE little boy who showed tremendous strength while spending the last 114 days of his life in intensive care has sadly died.

Carson Adams, three, from Blackburn, was born with congenital heart disease, meaning his heart was on the wrong side of his body, and the tot had his first open heart surgery at Alder Hey Children's Hospital when he was just three weeks old.

Over the last three years he underwent a further seven heart surgeries, culminating in the biggest operation of his life on July 27 this year.

Lancashire Telegraph:

Unfortunately, Carson failed to make progress and developed kidney failure and a bleed on his brain, and on Monday his family were told to prepare for the worst.

He died just before 7pm on Tuesday.

Speaking on behalf of Carson's mum and dad, his auntie, Cayla Adams said: "He was so loved by everyone. So many people followed his journey, and he touched so many people's hearts while he was here.

"We just want to say thank you so much for all the support along the way, it means so much to us all.

"Thank you to everyone at the hospital who was involved in looking after Carson, we cannot fault the care he has received.

"They have gone above and beyond for him, especially Dr Ram. Their dedication to the children here is unbelievable, it's clearly not just a job to them as they were all in tears as we left.

"It's now time to go home and be there for our girls."

Lancashire Telegraph:

At the beginning of the week, mum, Amylee Adams, said her son's body had rejected the kidney dialysis and there was nothing more doctors could do for her courageous little boy.

The priest from Alder Hey Children's Hospital was called to bless Carson on Monday before he sadly died on Tuesday November 17.

Posting on Facebook, Amylee and Carson's dad Chris West wrote: "Carson has grown his angel wings, just before 7pm, in mine and Westy's arms.

"I'm absolutely heartbroken but he is now at peace - no more pain, wires, monitors or operations for you my boy.

"Never will there be a boy with more fight than him, he’s touched so many hearts.

"'I'm going to miss you so much.

"Fly high my beautiful boy, mummy and daddy love you so much."

Lancashire Telegraph:

Amylee and Chris also expressed their gratitude to all who had shown support for their son over the last three years.

In September, Carson's family set up a Facebook page called 'Carson's journey the Blackburn heart warrior' to document the toddler's life, and within weeks it had amassed more than 8,000 followers.

People from across the world, and those closer to home, including community group, Shad Chefs, helped to raise awareness of Carson's condition and participated in numerous charity events to raise money for his family.

Lancashire Telegraph:

Carson's auntie Cayla added: "Father Gerard Barry said that Carson's purpose here was to teach everyone about strength and courage, and to never give up no matter what you are faced with.

"He's been the strongest little boy on this earth and we are so proud of him, he did so well and didn't give up, but in the end it was just too much for him.

"Even though he was only here a short time, he taught people so much.

"He walked in the room and it would light up, and we want everyone to remember Carson like this, for the happy, loving little boy he was."

Carson was born in Manchester St Mary's hospital on September 11 2017.

He leaves behind mum, Amylee, dad, Chris, and sisters Lilly, 11 and Lexie, 13.
