There is currently no train service on the Abbey Line due to an increase in the number of staff self-isolating, a train company has said.

London Northwestern Railway is currently running a replacement bus service for passengers between Watford Junction and St Albans Abbey, which is set to stay in place until at least January 17.

The train company has said that the impact of Covid-19 on its workforce has made it tougher to run the full timetable and has tweeted multiple times that it is currently running a bus service in place of the Abbey Line.

A spokesperson from London Northwestern said: “We are currently operating a replacement bus service on the Abbey Line between Watford Junction and St Albans Abbey following an increase in the number of train crew required to self-isolate.

“Passengers needing to travel are advised to check replacement bus times before setting out using live journey planners.”

The train company added that a review of train crew availability will be carried next week to establish whether the train service can be reinstated from Monday, January 18.
