Four men were arrested on the M25 near St Albans after a man was found with several wounds following a "targeted attack".

Police were called to Sawbridgeworth, Herts, at around 5.30pm on Saturday following reports of a fight in the Budgens car park off London Road.

Upon arrival officers found a man had "suffered several wounds", following which he was taken to hospital.

It is currently unclear what caused the wounds but his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

Following the fight a vehicle made off before being stopped by police near junction 22 of the M25, close to St Albans.

Four men were arrested and charged with assault (ABH) and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

The men charged were:

  • Vigan Murtati, aged 23, from Station Road in Bishop’s Stortford.
  • Gjelbrim Murtati, aged 27, from Springfield Road in Windsor, Berkshire.
  • Xhevahir Axhami, aged 28, from Torriano Avenue in London, NW5.
  • Nakaj Durim, aged 26, from High Road in North Finchley.

All four were remanded into custody to appear before Hatfield Magistrates’ Court today (Monday 13 September).

Neighbourhood Inspector Mark Collins said: “I fully understand that this incident will have caused alarm among local residents however, I’d like to try and reassure people that we believe this to have been a targeted attack, involving people who are acquainted and mainly live outside of the area.

"No members of the public were harmed during the incident.

"Arrests were swiftly made and charges have now been brought."

He added: “Due to the severity of the incident, I would ask that videos and images from the scene are not shared on social media, as this may harm the integrity of the investigation and subsequent court case as we move forward.

"It is vital that the case is allowed to proceed unimpeded.”
