Three people have been arrested on suspicion of importing firearms after armed police executed a warrant in St Albans today (Thursday).
The bust was in Catherine Street as part of an ongoing investigation into firearms importations and was done by the Eastern Region Special Operations Unit (ERSOU).
Three St Albans men, aged 37, 30 and 39, were arrested at the scene and have been taken into police custody.
Police were reportedly yelling at people to get into their homes before armed officers searched the property.
An ERSOU spokesperson provided no details of what was found.
Detective inspector David Skarratts said: “This was a planned operation as part of an on-going investigation into the importation of firearms, and there is no wider threat to the public.
“We’re committed to tackling firearms criminality in Hertfordshire and beyond in order to make the eastern region a safer place.”
