A man was threatened with a knife in an attempted robbery by children who “looked around 12 years old” in Oxhey Park.

Police are appealing for witnesses of the incident that took place on Thursday, August 4, between 9.20pm and 9.45pm.

The victim, in his forties, was exercising in the park off Wiggenhall Road when three unknown males approached him.

He was asked to hand over his phone before being threatened with a small knife.

The males then ran in the direction of Bushey Arches, dropping the knife as they did. The victim was uninjured, and nothing was taken.

One of the males is described as white, of slim build, with freckles, approximately 5ft 1in tall and looked approximately 12 years old.

He was wearing a baseball cap, a white-coloured T-shirt and long trousers.

The second male is black, of large build, around 5ft 9in tall, wearing a black T-shirt and dark coloured trousers.

He appeared older than the first male, the police said.

The third is a white male, around 5ft 1in tall, who also looked around 12 years old, of slim build, with short brown hair.

Investigator Kirsty Treanor, from the local crime unit, said: “Thankfully the victim was unhurt and nothing was taken.

“Our enquiries into the incident are continuing at this time. As part of this, I am appealing for any witnesses to please come forward.

“Did you see three males in the area around the time, matching the descriptions given?

“Any information at all could greatly assist our enquiries.”
