The University of Hertfordshire is the most improved in the UK, a national league table has revealed.
Jumping 40 places up the table, the university is ranked 54th in the UK compared to 94th last year in The Good University Guide, which compares 113 universities.
Professor Tim Wilson, university vice-chancellor, said: "We are delighted with this result.
"We are proud to be an ambitious institution that is known for putting the experience of our students first and this good position in the sector highlights our achievements."
The league also revealed that Hertfordshire has spent more money on its facilities than any other university.
A lot of this investment has gone towards sports facilities, a bus service, student parking and campus security.
Money has also been invested in guidance and advice services for graduates.
