'ELLO 'ELLO appears to be more of a statement of recognition than an enquiry a survey has revealed.
The research carried out by Hertfordshire Constabulary was to gauge the success of the new ward constable amongst councillors, teachers and other key people in the community.
Of more than 4000 people surveyed, 70 per cent knew their name, 73 per cent had a contact telephone number and 78 per cent found the system reassuring.
The community teams introduced in October 2000 gave each council ward a named officer or officers for non-emergency, social and community issues.
