A KEEN walker from St Albans has founded a website to help local people who enjoy strolling round the area to find other like-minded companions.
Rachael McConaghie, who came up with the idea because she found it hard to persuade friends to share a walk , said: “I’m sure there are lots of people out there who love to walk or ramble round St Albans itself or the surrounding area, but would much rather have a companion or two.
“Quite often, it is difficult to find someone who wants to go for a walk in your area just at the same time as you do. Walking Buddies makes it easy to find a friend, or even start up your own walking group and share your favourite routes and locations in and around St. Albans.
“It is also means you’ve no more excuses to get out there and get fit by walking “Whatever your age or level of fitness, Walking Buddies is open to anyone who likes to make walking a social event as well as a good way to keep fit.”
Her website, www.walkingbuddies.org.uk, will be launched with a walk on Saturday, starting at 11am from the Inn on The Park, Verulamium Park.
Rachel said: “After about 60 minutes the walk ends at The Inn on The Park where walkers can meet, mingle and register as a member over refreshments.”
