I know I know, I promised to not leave it so long until I wrote again but as anyone with baby will understand, time just disappears and suddenly they're getting married and you're checking in to the retirement village.

Ok, not quite, but for this I will blame the baby!

The past few weeks have had their ups and downs. On the plus side Reuben has started moving. Like a breakdancer he now constantly flips on his back in order to shuffle himself around the room. Only a few days back I put him under his play arch and ten minutes later found him changing the channel from my programme to The Weakest Link on the Sky box by the television unit. In general it's a really fascinating development. However I am aware this is just the beginning of baby on the move and it does bring with it whole new realms of needing to keep my eye on him.

He has also really started to recognise my voice so that he can be crying loads and I'll talk to him from the other side of the room and he'll stop.

Plus he's out of newborn nappies – a milestone that quite upset me. I knew it would happen one day but he still seems so new to me!

On the less positive side we discovered he's suffering from acid reflux caused by a milk intolerance. I am happy we now have answers to the incessant moaning but it does make life a little more complex. Especially now that yesterday I started weaning him. We're just on baby rice at the moment but I have frozen some homemade butternut squash, pear and apple so I'll let you know how he goes once he samples these culinary delights.

And last week we took him to the Baby Show at London's Excel. As well as being shmoozed into buying the most expensive and unnecessarily high-tec highchair in existence we entered him into a modelling competition. I know, motherhood has brought out my competitive “my child is the best” thing but I am not ashamed! If you fancy giving it a look, seeing what my son looks like now and perhaps even voting (should you so wish, no pressure of course!) visit www.babyexpert.com/Gallery/Reuben-Dias/gallery I will keep you posted.
