A FATHER has criticised the organisers of the St Albans Half Marathon on Sunday, June 13, for failing to provide enough T-shirts for young runners.
Paul Catterfeld, of Charmouth Road, St Albans, said: “For the second year in a row, my children were extremely disappointed to queue up after the 1.5 mile run for around half an hour – only to be told that the supply of T-shirts had run out. It seems unfair to penalise slower runners who signed up many weeks in advance. Could they not provide a ten per cent contingency supply for late entrants?”
The event, founded by the Review in 1982, has been known as the St Albans Half Marathon since 2008 because of a dispute over sponsorship, and is run by the district council contractor Leisure Connection.
Organisers say some children lost out on medals and T-shirts because of the large number of late entrants.
