The Review has today launched a fundraising appeal in a bid to help St Michael's Church in St Albans recover from the damage caused by mindless vandals last week.

Thieves struck at the parish church stealing lead from its roof and leaving it open for torrential rain to pour through - causing thousands of pounds worth of damage.

Church members and worshippers have been left devastated forcing the historic church's vicar Reverend Brett Gray to cancel funerals and services.

We are reaching out to the kind-hearted community in St Albans to get in touch and pledge their financial help so the church can restore the roof it's 1,000-year-old building.

To offer your support through donations or organised fundraising events contact reporter Manisha Mistry on 07774 556 966 or email mmistry@london.newsquest.co.uk.

Further details on how you can help will be published in next week's Review.
