BUSINESSES in St Albans looking to contribute to a community project can join the Review in raising money for St Michael's Church.

Our Raise the Roof campaign to help the historic church recover from thousands of pounds' worth of damage caused by lead thieves has gone from strength to strength since its launch almost three weeks ago.

In such a small period of time the appeal has raised more than £9,000 but the total which needs to be met is still far off.

The vicar, the Rt Reverend Brett Gray, has thanked the community for its generosity in response to the Review's campaign.

A number of fundraising events have been held from which the church has benefited and the vicarage is constantly inundated which donations coming through the post.

To join us in our continual efforts to support Reverend Gray, we are calling out to businesses in St Albans and Harpenden which are considering a community fundraiser or team building project, for example a car wash, to put St Michael's on the top of their list.

Connect St Albans, a venture launched by the Centre of Voluntary Services, has included our appeal in its latest newsletter which has been sent to firms across the district.
