A nearly-new sale took place at a St Albans church today, in order to raise money for a new roof.
The sale took place at St Michael's Church where thieves recently stripped lead from the roof.
The Review launched its Raise the Roof appeal and so far nearly £26,000 has been raised.
Alison Gray, organiser, said: “A few weeks ago a third of the lead and copper was stolen from the roof. It'll cost £50,000 to replace and so far £26,000 has been donated.
“I've got a great team of helpers, we started planning two weeks ago to sell baby and toddler toys and equipment.”
Stalls were set up and a raffle organised, with many prizes donated by local businesses.
Raffle prizes included vouchers for the Waffle House restaurant, Sanrizz hair dressers, and Champneys, tickets to Willows Farm Village, and gifts from Blooming Marvellous, It's a Small World and Nik Nacs chocolate shop.
The nearly new sale raised over £400 towards the new roof campaign.
A Christmas fair will be held on November 28 and a concert takes place on December 12.
