MORE than £2,000 was donated to the Review's Raise the Roof appeal for St Michael's Church during the Songs of Praise event at the abbey last night.
St Albans Abbey organised the massive service, packing hundreds of people in – all in aid of the appeal.
A collection also went round at the end of the night and Reverend Brett Gray, vicar at the St Michael's Street church, gave a speech.
The total sum raised for a new roof, which was vandalised after thieves stole led from it, is now reaching £35,000.
