Drivers are being advised by the ambulance service to “take care” and only undertake “essential journeys” in light of the adverse weather conditions.
Neil Storey, for the East of England Ambulance Service, said: “Many people will be aware the Met office has issued a severe weather warning.
“We would like to reassure people that a normal 999 service is in operation and a number of vehicles are on standby across the region to assist as needed.
“We would ask people to help by only dialling 999 if absolutely necessary and advise to undertake essential journeys. If they must travel, carry appropriate supplies such as warm blankets, food and drink.
