MONEY raised from the sale of historic and collectable banknotes has been donated to keep the Hertfordshire Air Ambulance flying .
Two auctions organised by the Clydesdale Bank raised £180,000 for various charities, with staff in the financial solutions centre in Station Way, St Albans, nominating the county air ambulance trust to receive £850.
Managing partner Paul Grace said: “As a bank we are always keen to support local charities and to make a difference to the community we live in. This unique charity auction has allowed us to do just that. We are delighted to be able to support the air ambulance, which is such an important addition to the emergency services in saving lives.”
More than 300 historic and unusual banknotes were sold, including complete uncut sheets of the latest Scottish notes.
The proceeds have been split between charities chosen by bank staff across Britain.
