STUDENTS will be encouraged to study literature during a conference aimed at putting British vampire fiction back on the map.
The event named Open Graves, Open Minds: Vampires and the undead in Modern Culture, will be held at the University of Hertfordshire on April 16 and April 17.
Dr Sam George, a lecturer in English Literature at the university in Hatfield, said: “It is amazing how many British actors have played Dracula on screen. I am to put the British vampire back on the map.
“The writer Marcus Sedgwick has also been recruited to promote British vampire fiction at the conference.”
Dr George, who has just launched an MA in vampire fiction which will begin in September, will gather with experts from all over the world, to examine the culture behind the subject.
