TWO men, one of whom suffered permanent scars, were subjected to a horrific attack in St Albans over the weekend.

Police have appealed for information after the men, aged in their 20s, were approached by a gang of four to six black men who assaulted the pair in Victoria Street, near the bridge, on Saturday at 3.10am.

The men who were targeted were from St Albans and London.

One of the main attackers is described as being black, six foot tall, aged in his early to mid 20s, of a skinny build. He is described as having a goatee beard and was wearing a white T-shirt, black tracksuit bottoms and a white bandana on his head.

DC Gemma Badat said: “This is a serious GBH where one of the victims sustained significant injuries to his face which has required reconstructive surgery.

“Although this took place in the early hours of the morning, Victoria Street is a main thoroughfare in the town and I would like to speak to anyone who may recall this incident or seen the group running from the scene.”

Anyone with information can call police on 0845 330 0222.
