A MENTAL health charity in Harpenden is celebrating a cash boost to buy new equipment.

Thanks to Councillor Bernard Lloyd's £500 donation, Community Meeting Point will be able to buy tools for its carpentry workshops.

The charity provides therapeutic care, training and support to help adults with mental health problems. Its members are taught valuable life skills and practical workshops are held to encourage independent living.

The money will pay for a high performance, low vibration fretsaw which will allow a range of woodwork activities to be held during the workshops. A ten litre tea urn is also needed to replace the current one.

Councillor Lloyd said: “The new equipment will enhance practical workshops and help teach valuable life skills.

"People with mental health problems are often stigmatised but this charity is socially inclusive and helps people to live independently.”
