A RESIDENT from Bricket Wood is organising a fundraising event for a charity close to this heart.
Gary Beasley, of Brackendene, along with friends from the village, will host the event at Bricket Wood Social Club on July 7 in aid of Parkinson's UK.
The 58-year-old said he wants to give something back to the charity following his diagnosis with the disease.
He said: "I've has Parkinson's for about eight years, but I got to the stage where I had it quite bad. The medication wasn't working."
Mr Beasley said he went through deep brain stimulation surgery which helped reduce the impact the disease was having.
The fundraising evening, which will include an auction, will be held from 7pm until midnight and there will be a £2 charge at the door.
