PROPOSALS have been put forward to St Albans District Council for an alcohol delivery service.

An application for a premises licence to store alcohol has been submitted to the council's licensing sub committee.

It is proposed alcohol is kept at Personal Storage in Ronsons Way, and distributed via a telephone order service with orders paid for by card only.

Members of the public will not be able to access the building, which will be protected by CCTV, keys and secutiry codes.

If a licence is granted, alcohol will be sold between 6pm and 5am Friday and Saturday, during the same times on Sundays only between June 27 and August 26 and on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Eve.

Alcohol will not be sold to any members of the public on the street, as only delivery to home addresses will be allowed.

To prevent crime and disorder the applicant, Thomas Young, stated in his application: "Staff will only hand over orders after being satisfied that the orderer is of good sense and not committing a crime, or behaving anti-socially.

"In addition all employee will have a mobile CCTV unit on them at all times and keep up to date exclusion records of any people acting anti-socially in our presence."
