A GROUP of intrepid runners from St Albans are celebrating the 2012 Olympic Games by organising their own relay to the East London stadium.
The St Albans Striders will take part in the run this Sunday, June 17, from the city centre to the Olympic Park in Stratford.
There are five different lengths and stages to the run, with some taking on only parts of the 35.87 mile course.
Peter Blackaller, member of the organising team, said the Striders wanted to do something special for the Olympics.
Most of the route is off-road and starts at the Westminster Lodge running track.
