Two St Albans-based bloggers are celebrating after being recognised at a national awards ceremony.

Lisa Pearson’s blog Mummy Whisperer and Emily Quinton’s site The Start Up Wife walked away with prizes at this year’s BritMums Brilliance in Blogging Awards.

Television presented Katy Hill presented the women with their awards at the ceremony, which took place in London last weekend.

Ms Pearson was named the winner of the Inspire category, which recognises bloggers who have been an inspiration in the community.

She said: “I was so chuffed to win this category because I was up against amazing women.

“My blog is a mixture of stories about the ups and downs of my life as a mum and hints and tips for mums to enjoy their lives more.

“I love writing it and love even more when I hear from mums to say that I've helped them get more sparkle back into their lives.

“I believe mums are incredibly important in our society, but often overlooked, so with my blog and book I'm hoping to give them their confidence back.”

Ms Quinton was given the prize for the Snap category, which shows off the best photography bloggers.

She said: “I’m thrilled to win this award from BritMums for the photography on my blog and to feel a real part of the parent blogging community.”

Ruth Dawkins, a mother from St Albans who writes the blog Dorky Mum was asked to read out one of entries as part of the ceremony.
