Sir Cliff Richard is set to have a starring role in yet another Jubilee celebration for the Queen ahead of her Platinum anniversary.

As reported by The Telegraph, Sir Cliff, 81, is to take a starring role in the “people’s pageant” for the fourth jubilee of his long career, riding an open-topped double-decker bus through London’s streets as an icon of his era.

Other celebrities, like Gary Lineker and Jeremy Irons, will join him, with Ed Sheeran delivering the finale at Buckingham Palace.

Sir Cliff said: “It’s going to be a wonderful celebration, it will be spectacular.”

Organisers of the pageant - which will form the grand finale of the jubilee weekend on Sunday, June 5 - have signed up 100 “national treasures” to honour the Queen, including Basil Brush and a pack of moving corgi puppets.

The Telegraph report: "They estimate 10,000 people will perform in the pageant, with applications still open, and up to a billion people watching on screens worldwide.

"The £15 million people’s pageant has been designed to show “appreciation, affection and respect” for the Queen after 70 years on the throne, said Adrian Evans, pageant master - promising it would be the “most magnificent of all” her jubilees."

Members of the Royal Family are expected to join the party, with organisers hoping the Queen will be among them.
