Instagram users were reporting issues with the app on Thursday evening.
The social media platform’s app wasn’t opening when users tried to access it.
According to Down Detector, issues started at around 9pm on July 14.
Problems were recorded across the UK including in London, Birmingham and Manchester.
Of the problems reported, 92% related to the app while 5% related to the website.
A further 3% related to issues with login.
Instagram app crashes as users flock to Twitter to complain
Instagram users rushed to Twitter to complain about the app that wasn’t loading correctly.
One tweeted a picture of a man with a blank expression, writing: “Me scrolling through Twitter to see if anyone else's Instagram is down #instagramdown"

Another shared a picture of a dog running very fast, writing: "Me on my way to check Twitter if instagram is down or if it's my wifi"
Alongside a sad face, a third said: "#instagramdown crashing while opening the app. Is there anyone else facing the same issue?"
