London Colney's winning run stretched to five games after easing to a 3-0 win at at Hertford Town in the South Midlands Premier Division on Saturday.
The visitors had a scare early on when Jordan Watson fired a shot against the post. But the Blueboys threatened through Spencer Clarke-Mardel’s low strike was saved by the home goalkeeper.
Clarke-Mardel again went close for the visitors but he dragged his strike past the far post. The opening goal came five minutes before half-time when Martin Collins’ effort was blocked but the ball fell kindly for Danny Fitzgerald to drill his effort into corner of the net.
Fitzgerald almost quickly added a second goal but his fierce strike flew narrowly wide of the target.
The visitors were relieved to see keeper Jack Smith make a crucial double save to keep out two efforts from Leigh Rose.
Hertford kept the pressure on and Charlie Smith’s header struck the crossbar as they pushed for an equaliser.
But the Blueboys netted their second goal of the game when James Ewington fired home.
The final effort came in injury time when Fitzgerald burst into the area and squared the ball for Ewington to net from close range.
London Colney are home to Hoddesdon Town this weekend.
