City Youth's Ben Kelly was welcomed back after winning Team GB gold at the Special Olympics World Games.
There were 134 people in attendance at City Youth's summer holiday coaching camp at Highfield Park as Kelly returned from the 11-a-side football triumph.
He represented Team GB in the Special Olympics football team and they were unbeaten after eight matches. In the final they drew 3-3 and after extra time Kelly scored the winning penalty for the team.
Kelly said: "The highlight of the trip was the opening ceremony in front of 60,000 people including some superstars from around the world. The football matches came very quickly one game after another and the winning has not fully sunk in yet. Matt Dodds and Sean Ellingham also represented St Albans City in USA and performed very well with Matt also scoring in the final."
City Youth Chair of Trustee Mervyn Morgan said " We are so proud of the lads. Well done, you are a credit to St Albans City Youth and Special Olympics."
