St Albans Ladies were in irrepressible form on Sunday afternoon as they trounced Sharnbrook Women 9-0 in the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire women’s league.

A hat-trick from Ellen Salter, a brace for Ellie Lovelock and additional goals from Kerry Twigg, Molly Slade, Kayla Johnson and Georgia Knight did the damage for the Lady Saints who have now scored 19 goals in their last three matches.

They were ahead just three minutes into the match when Lovelock picked out Twigg who lobbed the goalkeeper from 20 yards out to set the tone for the rest of the match.

Lovelock soon doubled the advantage after Johnson’s corner was touched on by Twigg and she was on hand to grab her first of two.

A temporary hiatus in goalscoring lasted until the 28th minute before Salter got her first of the afternoon after she charged down the left wing and cut into the box to hit a terrific low shot into the far right hand corner.

Salter would go on to grab her second just before half time after Sophie Hull was hauled down in the area and Salter converted the spot kick to put St Albans 4-0 up before the break.

The Lady Saints were in no mood to slow down in the second half and had added a fifth within a minute of the restart.

Johnson’s corner picked out fell for Slade and her volley flew into the roof of the net.

Johnson added goal number six herself when she swept home at the back post before Lovelock completed her brace with just over ten minutes left when she curled a free-kick into the top corner.

Salter rounded off her hat-trick after she latched onto to Hull’s through ball before Knight put the cherry on the cake and made it 9-0 with just two minutes remaining after she reacted quickest when Johnson’s effort bounced back off the crossbar.
