JAMES Vaughan and Eoin Doyle could both be on their way out of Valley Parade in a transfer window shake-up, the Telegraph & Argus has learned.

It is understood that Swindon are preparing to make an improved cash deal for Doyle, who scored 23 goals on loan for the League Two leaders before being recalled by Gary Bowyer earlier this month.

And Vaughan, City’s current top scorer, is expected to join Tranmere on loan for the rest of the season.

It is a major gamble for Bowyer with the window shutting at 11pm on Friday. City are expected to make offers for potential replacements in the next couple of days.

When asked about any possible movement, Bowyer said: “It’s always ongoing. Throughout the times I’ve operated in the window there have always been situations where the later it comes, a decision lands on your lap and you have to make the right one for the football club.

“As of today, there’s nothing yet. But I’m sure that as the window closes, there will be things thrown left, right and centre at us both for incomings and outgoings.”

Doyle had previously expressed a desire to remain with Swindon where he had such prolific success during the first half of the season.

In an interview in November, the striker admitted he would be “disappointed” to return to City.

He said: “If I was to go back in January, it wouldn’t be the same.

“I don’t think I suit them, they don’t suit me, and this is where I want to be.”

Doyle has appeared four times for City since being recalled but has been unable to add to his goal tally.

With his contract up at the end of the season, it is likely he has played his final game.

Vaughan could be looking to pursue an opportunity nearer his home on the Wirral.

The former Everton frontman, who has scored 11 goals, still has two more years to run on the deal that he signed last summer.

However, it is understood the Bantams have yet to accept offers from either club at this point.
