Xisco Munoz is happy with his Watford side after they came out on top of a "tense" game against Huddersfield Town.

Goals from Tom Cleverley and Joao Pedro in the second half saw the Hornets pick up three points at Vicarage Road after a difficult first half in which both sides struggled to create.

However, the head coach felt his side had the right balance and ultimately deserved the win.

"For me it was a tense game today because in front of us we had a very good team with high intensity," said Munoz. "And we gave the balance, you know, the most important is that our team understand what happens in the game.

"We had control of the game, of the ball and also understand what happened in the space, when we need to attack the space and we understand when we have the balance and to give the ball for width for one side or another side. I'm happy with them.

"The first half, we know was difficult and the second half we had more chances. We had different space and now our team is ready for us to understand what happened in this game."

Munoz singled out Cleverley for praise after his tenacity allowed him to make the most of a mistake in the Terriers' defence in order to open the scoring.

The Spaniard said he provided an example of how the rest of the team should be performing.

"Tom is a perfect example of what we need," he said. "This is the passion for every time for the ball and it was good. This is the our way. I think our fans today will stay happy with the Tom and the way we work in the pitch because they give everything."
