Kiko Femenia insists he is focused on getting promoted with Watford and is not considering his future away from the club.

During the summer transfer window, moves to Valencia and Spartak Moscow were discussed, but never came to fruition, leaving the full-back at Vicarage Road.

Since then, he has gone on to be one of the most consistent performers at the club this season, defending well at the back while pitching in with service up front.

Speaking after Saturday's 2-0 win over Huddersfield Town, the Spaniard said he was really happy working with new head coach Xisco Munoz and that he was focused on helping the team return to the Premier League.

"Personally I'm really focused on Watford," said Femenia. "My season is here, so I'm really focused on the promotion, on the goal of the team, so I don't really care about what's being said.

St Albans & Harpenden Review:

"We’re really happy with him [Munoz]. The training sessions are really fun and enjoyable. We have lots of possession of the ball. From the previous ones he is quite different but now we’re really focused and happy to work with him, to implement his ideas in our group.

"Totally [he has lifted the mood], because he’s a really positive and fun person and he’s really close to all of us, which is a good thing."

Femenia was happy with how the Hornets performed in their win over the Terriers at the weekend, but knows it is important that they now build on that victory in tomorrow night's game against Barnsley at Vicarage Road.

“I’m really happy with the performance of the team, and I’m happy for myself because I’m adding minutes every game,” he said.

“It was an important win, our goal is to go back to the Premier League so it’s important we keep picking up three points. It’s all on us, we know our goal, which is to get back to the Premier League as soon as possible.

“If it’s this season, that’s obviously better, but we’re just focusing game by game. We want to win all the games and with the quality the squad has, we know we can do it, we just need to be mentally strong to achieve it.”
