On this day two years ago Wembley stadium was treated to arguably one of the most exciting FA Cup semi finals in living memory, with Watford coming from behind to dramatically beat Wolverhampton Wanderers in extra time.

The Hornets had gone two goals behind with Matt Doherty and Raul Jimenez scoring either side of half-time, putting Wolves in a commanding position.

However, an inspired substitution in the 66th minute saw Gerard Deulofeu replace Will Hughes and turn the game completely on its head.

First the former Barcelona man pulled a goal back with an arcing lob from the corner of the 18 yard box that looped over John Ruddy into the far corner.

With two minutes of stoppage time played, Troy Deeney was upended in the area by Leander Dendoncker's clumsy challenge, giving the captain the perfect opportunity to send the game into extra time.

He did that in typical Deeney fashion, powering his spot kick straight down the centre of the goal, giving Ruddy little hope of keeping it out.

The equaliser had clearly swung the momentum of the match in Watford's favour and they completed the turnaround in the first half of extra time, with Deulofeu combining with Andre Gray before stroking the ball past Ruddy to seal a memorable victory at Wembley.

Following the match, head coach Javi Gracia spoke of his pride at being part of such a momentous occasion.

“During the game there were different moments. First half they scored and we had some chances as well, but I think they played better," he said. "In the second we had more possession, more control of the game and when we scored at the end it was something amazing for us and we had the chance in extra-time to win the game.

“We are very happy. I am very proud of all my players, of all the supporters because today we have lived together and it’s special.”
