Seven Los Angeles Chargers have been selected for the Pro Bowl including veteran Philip Rivers and rookie Derwin James.
Quarterback Rivers and safety James will be joined by wide receiver Keenan Allen, running back Melvin Gordon, defensive end Melvin Ingram, centre Mike Pouncey and special-teamer Adrian Phillips.
The Pro Bowl will take place in Orlando the week before the Super Bowl in January and sees players from the AFC and NFC spar off.
Rivers will play backup to Kansas City Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes, one of six selections from the side, while the Pittsburgh Steelers also have a half-dozen selections in the AFC roster.
The New Orleans Saints have five in the NFC side, including quarterback Drew Brees, tying with the Chicago Bears and Dallas Cowboys.
There is no spot for any players from the Buffalo Bills, Oakland Raiders and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The AFC currently leads the series 23-22, having won in 2016 and 2017.
