OK I admit it! I am biased especially as I organised the festival and played in two of the bands...BUT every event was packed and the audience were as fab as the musicians.

Paul Green started the festival on the Saturday night and the reluctant hero played his acoustic set to great applause. 'Greenie' is always shy about playing the acoustic and he had to be bullied into this part of this act. His humour appealed to ages 4 to 84 and the second half was definitely electric.

The Sunday jazz romp featured three top blowers in Willie Garnett (saxes), Andy Peate from Brum (trumpet) and Chris Lawrence (trombone). Surprise guests included Grant T Williams from Bermuda and top jazz songstress Tina May. Both amazing.

The Bank Holiday Monday was party mode and the Wedge Orchestra featured Kate Flowerdew and the superb Martine Howard formerly with hit wonders Guys and Dolls. She claimed to have a 'bit of a cough' You would never have guessed as she sang more powerful than Pavorotti! Guitarist Dusty Dunsterville was his normal musical genius and showed why he has been rated along Albert Lee and Eric Slowhand. The last set was Simply The Best and proved we can have a carnival atmosphere in Hertfordshire.

To finish, on the Monday night the stylish Derik Timms performed in the Barn. So where do we go from here? Why not a mini Marlborough type festival next year? Four or five stages including a marquee on the green and a musical walkround over three sunny days...Sarratt would be perfect. For more details see www.ianharrisonmusic.com
