Festive singers from St Peter’s Church in Watford have abandoned performing carols on frozen doorsteps, deciding to sing to pub-goers instead.

Fourteen carol singers sang over 20 carols to the regulars of the Tudor Arms pub in Bushey Mill Lane on Monday (December 17).

Reverend Chris Cottee, vicar at St Peter’s Church, said: "Rather than go out on the streets which has been a bit difficult in recent years, we thought it would be more relevant to go across the road to the pub where people will actually hear us sing.

"It’s difficult to get people to come out, people just aren’t that bothered any more.

"The culture has changed; I think it’s just not appreciated as much."

Pub carols were a success, said Reverend Cottee: "They enjoyed it, we even got a round of applause at one point. We’ll do it again next year."
