Joe Clark finished 11th overall
West Hatch High School’s Joe Clark was the star performer at the Essex Schools Cross Country Championships.
Clark, a Year 8 pupil, finished 11th at the annual event held at Hylands Park in Chelmsford with 32 pupils from the Chigwell school's Years 7 and 8 taking part.
Clark will now be selected for Essex Schools and will represent the county in the National Schools Competition later in the year.
Close to 300 pupils competed in each age category and Nikita Roberts, also in Year 8, produced another notable effort, coming 35th in the competition.
