Tom Cleverley and Scott Loach both started in England Under-21s’ disappointing home defeat to Greece.

Loach played the whole match last night and Cleverley was withdrawn in the 87th minute.

On loan Arsenal midfielder Henri Lansbury was in the squad but did not make the substitutes bench.

The game at the Keepmoat Stadium ended 2-1 to the visitors, with Loach beaten midway through the first half and early into the second.

Jay DeMerit played 70 minutes for the USA in their 2-1 away defeat to the Netherlands before being forced off through injury and Heidar Helguson played the whole match in Iceland's goalless draw away to Cyprus.

Youngsters Lee Hodson and Michael Bryan featured in Northern Ireland Under-21s' 3-0 victory against San Marino on Tuesday night.

Hodson managed to play the full 90 minutes in Serravalle, whilst Bryan was given the last half hour.

Stephen McGinn came on for Scotland Under-21s in the 75th minute and was involved in the game’s most contentious as his side drew 2-2 with Azerbaijan on Tuesday night.

The midfielder had a goal disallowed for offside in the 85th minute, which manager Billy Stark claimed was "clearly onside".
