Ray Train signed for Watford from Bolton Wanderers for a club record £50,000.
Described on his arrival by his new manager Graham Taylor as "a sniffer, a ratter and a passer", the 5ft 4in midfielder cited his headed goals as his greatest asset in a somewhat tongue-in-cheek interview with the Watford Observer.
Watford were to more than treble this record outlay before the end of the year.
