Watford have yet to make a decision on whether to sign Zat Knight, however, Slavisa Jokanovic has suggested he would like the defender to join the club as long as he proves his fitness.
The ex-Aston Villa and Fulham free agent joined the Hornets on trial a week ago today after leaving MLS side Colorado Rapids at the start of this month.
On Saturday Jokanovic confirmed: “We still haven’t made the decision [on whether to sign Knight]. We are assessing his fitness. We believe he needs to be more prepared if we want him to help us immediately. So we are still waiting to make a definite decision.”
When asked if he would like to sign the centre back, as long as his fitness is at the required standard, Jokanovic replied: “He is a quality player with a lot of experience.
“Listen, I am in a little bit of a strange situation because I asked for players in January but we are buying at the end of February and March.
“With Marco Motta, I participated in the decision because I had a reason to make this decision. With Zat I will wait a little bit more.
“He is a quality player but we are not sure if he is ready to help us immediately.”
