On Friday 10th July Herts Air Ambulance hosted its very first Dragon Boat Race in partnership with healthcare company, Roche. Stanborough Lakes in Welwyn Garden City was the venue for this spectacular event which saw various local companies battle it out to be crowned king of the Dragon Boats! The event was a huge success; so far raising around £2,500 for the life-saving helicopter… and the money is still coming in!

Congratulations to ‘Team BOW’, overall winners of the Dragon Boat Race. Members of the winning team included representatives from TPS Display, Letchworth and Ignition, Much Hadham. Second place went to ‘Team Passion’ from Roche and third place went to ‘Team Courage’ also from Roche. Well done to everybody that took part in what was a fantastically fun evening involving team building, corporate networking and of course, the raising of vital funds for the Herts Air Ambulance! Dean Capon, Corporate Affairs Manager at Roche said, “We are delighted to support Herts Air Ambulance by sponsoring such a successful fundraising event. Our employees participated with great enthusiasm and of course we’re very pleased to win 2nd and 3rd places in the competition. Personally, I am very proud of the efforts of our employees in demonstrating their support for HAA in this way and we look forward to continuing these efforts throughout the remainder of the year”.

Nikki Caborn, Herts Coordinator of Essex and Herts Air Ambulance Trust adds, “We are thrilled that the first Dragon Boat Race for Herts Air Ambulance was such a success. Thank you to everyone who has made this event possible, especially Roche for sponsoring the event, Stanborough Lakes for providing the venue, Kim Langley, Mayor of Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council for starting the race and of course all the companies that took part including Chequers Inn, Ignition, TPS Display, Cereal Partners and Mouchel. We would like to make this an annual event and look forward to making it bigger and better next year!”
