Already awaiting a report that could send him to prison a man was caught driving again was told he would not be home for Christmas dinner.

Spencer Slater, aged 27, of Brent Lea, Brentford, admitted failing to supply a specimen for analysis, driving while banned, careless driving, no insurance, no licence and possession of cannabis on November 15.

Sally Peters, prosecuting, said that he was already under a ban from a previous recent offence and was waiting for reports to be delivered to court. He had been told on that occasion he might well go to prison and was out on conditional bail.

Before adjourning it for the reports he was told by the bench: "You know where you will will having Christmas dinner this year, don't you?'' Slater said he was represented by Stephen Carter and would inform him of the present offences before the next appearance. He was released on bail.

Magistrates told an unemployed man that he would never find work if he spent his time "high as a kite" on cannabis.

Dalbir Sandhu, aged 20, of Southfield Close, Hillingdon, appeared at Feltham court last week and admitted possession of cannabis at Bath Road, Hounslow, on November 25.

Sally Peters, prosecuting, said that police were on patrol in the area and saw Sandhu rolling a cigarette. Because he was acting suspiciously he was searched and cannabis found on him.

Sandhu said that he uses cannabis and enjoys it although he realised it was illegal. Asked how he afford it as he is unemployed he said that his parents make him an allowance.

Magistrates gave a him a conditional discharge for six months with £43 costs.

After driving into a central reservation a driver went home and was arrested later by police.

Rizwan Ahmad, aged 53, of Riley Road, Feltham, appeared at court last week and admitted drink-driving at Feltham on November 27.

Sally Peters, prosecuting, said that when he was tested police found he had 71 microgrammes of alcohol to each 100 millilitres of breath, just over twice the legal limit.

Ahmad told the court he was extremely sorry for what had happened and said that he needs his licence as he has two jobs. He added that he has a mortgage and large expenses.

Magistrates pointed out that it had been a serious matter because he was over twice the limit and fined him £250 with £43 costs.

In a row with someone outside a pub a teenager threw a flowerpot and it went straight through the window causing £500 worth of damage.

Police arrested Thomas Mark Campbell, aged 18, of Cornish House, Green Dragon Lane, Brentford, and he admitted criminal damage and possession of cannabis when he appeared at Feltham court last week.

Prosecuting Sally Peters said that at 9.30pm on October 22 Campbell was told to leave the New England pub, because of his behaviour. At 11.30pm he was back outside the pub and then threw a flower pot that smashed a bar window.

When police arrived he said he had had a row with his girlfriend and someone else became involved.

He admitted that he has previous convictions. Campbell told magistrates nothing like this would happen again.

He was told by the bench that drink was not an excuse for such behaviour and he was given a conditional discharge for six months with £250 compensation and £43 costs with a £25 fine for possession of cannabis.

Charged with threatening to kill an assistant at a Chiswick newsagents a man was sent to a crown for trial when he appeared at Feltham court last week. He was Vetharaneyam Jayathasan, aged 41, of Donald Road, Croydon. He was further charged with assault and possession of a knife at Chiswick Lane on September 20. The defendant was remanded on bail.

An unemployed man who stole to feed his children was caught by security staff at Hounslow and appeared at Feltham court last week.

Steven Hall, aged 32, of Towntree Road, Ashford, admitted stealing DVDs worth £89 from HMV, Hounslow, on November 21 and was remanded on bail for pre-sentence reports.

Magistrates were told that Hall had been watched on CCTV in the store and had been acting suspiciously. He took off the security tags, put the goods into his bag and walked out.

He admitted previous convictions and that he is on a conditional discharge from previous offences.

He told police that he had been unemployed for some time and had stolen to buy food for his children. Magistrates remanded him on bail.
