Following a burglary in which a large number of sentimental items were stolen from a house in Brookmans Park, police are appealing for witnesses and information.

Detective Constable Mark Cotte is investigating and said: “The victim, a woman in her 60s, was given the majority of the jewellery stolen by her late husband. Being the victim of a burglary is distressing enough let alone having items of sentimental value taken.”

The burglary occurred on Friday, August 24 between 6.40pm and 10pm at a house in Woodlands. During these times, offender(s) forced entry to the property and stole a large quantity of jewellery.

DC Cotte continued: “I would appeal to anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area between the times mentioned to contact police. I am particularly keen to hear from anyone who has been offered items.

“I would also appeal to anyone who has direct knowledge about the incident or those responsible to check their conscience and report the information. Criminals deserve no protection and whilst it will be hard for the victim to come to terms with what happened, getting her jewellery back will be of great importance.”

Anyone with information about the incident should contact DC Cotte via the Herts Police non-emergency number 101 quoting crime reference number B2/12/3041. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers, the independent charity, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
