The number of bike parking spaces at Harpenden train station will be doubled thanks to new funding from the government.
First Capital Connect has announced that 300 more spaces will be created in the station’s eastern car park.
At the moment 304 bikes can be parked on the site.
The Department for Transport has announced that it will provide the bulk of the £168,000 cost.
The train provider and Hertfordshire County Council will make up the remaining funds.
Larry Heyman, integration and partnership manager at First Capital Connect, said: "The funding we have secured for the new cycle parking will create a state of the art facility which will encourage many more people to cycle from home to the station.
"This, together with the new footbridge with lifts that will open, is really good news for Harpenden."
