All smiles aboard First Capital Connect's Santa Express

Father Christmas swapped his sledge for First Capital Connect (FCC) trains as he brought festive joy to passengers.

On Friday, December 13 and Saturday, December 14 Father Christmas boarded a special service where he was joined by children and their parents supported by charities including Home-start and Keech Hospice.

Face painters, balloon artists and volunteers from FCC and The Rotary Club of St Albans Verulamium, were also aboard the train giving out goody bags and spreading holiday cheer.

FCC Customer Service Director Keith Jipps said:“We are pleased that everyone had a great time on both days – I know I did.

“Creating Santa Specials every year for children and their parents is a fantastic way to say thank you to our passengers at Christmas time and give back to the communities that we serve.”

Chris Oxley, Rotarian and St Albans District Council Honorary Alderman, said:“The journey on Friday was probably the most emotional train journey of my life.

“The youngsters and their helpers were clearly so delighted to be involved in the train ride and the activities provided free by First Capital Connect.

“I wish to thank not only FCC for their thoughtfulness and generosity in putting on the trip but also the individual carers who are involved regularly with the young people, the FCC staff who volunteered to help and my Rotary colleagues who wholeheartedly joined in this very special occasion.”
