New volleyball facilities created using sand from the Olympic courts were officially opened in May.
Visitors to Verulamium Park courts got the chance to enjoy taster sessions and other related activities.
St Albans was one of six locations across the country to be given the sand from the Olympic volleyball courts, which were located at Horse Guards Parade in London.
Residents celebrated Britain’s past and present military during a parade to mark Armed Forces Day in Marshalswick.
The memorial outside St Mary’s Church in Sherwood Avenue was established to honour members of the Armed Forces and to remember those men and women who have given their lives in the service of this country in recent conflicts up to and including the present hostilities in Afghanistan.
A fire ripped through Grade II listed Wheathampstead pub, The Swan.
At the time Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue said when firefighters arrived the blaze had taken hold of both floors of the pub, in High Street.
Part of the pub’s roof had to be cut away so firefighters could reach the flames. Following a preliminary investigation, it was ruled as an accidental fire.
Nervous teenagers were put out of their misery in August when they celebrated "outstanding" GCSE results.
Alan Gray, head teacher of Sandringham School, said: "They were outstanding results and everyone got what they thoroughly deserved and I am just thrilled for them.
"It’s going to be a fantastic sixth form. I’m very proud of all of the students and all of the staff for all the hard work they put in."
