The Salvation Army in Harpenden once again held its free Christmas Day Party.

The charity responsible for St Albans, London Colney, Redbourn, held its free Christmas Day Party in the Salvation Army Hall on December 25 for all those who did not wish to be alone on Christmas Day.

The event commenced with a visit by the city’s Mayor Annie Brewster at midday followed by a traditional three course Christmas Lunch with all the trimmings. After lunch, guests enjoyed singing carols accompanied by pianist John Green, euphonium playing by Paul Santus and The Queen's Speech was shown on a large screen at 3pm.

Father Christmas also put in an appearance with gifts for all guests and the event closed with tea, coffee and Christmas cake at 4pm.

The Salvation Army said they wish to give special thanks to all the volunteers who gave up their time on Christmas Day. Volunteers were also kind enough to transport guests to and from the hall.

The following companies also provided toys, food, advertisement and funds to help make the day special, including: Waitrose, in Harpenden, Tesco, in St Albans, Jelley's Meats in Harpenden, Harpenden Trust, Jaspers Hire in Luton, Harpenden Town Council and Yummy Mummy Cakes in Harpenden.
