The council is inviting residents to have their say on the draft housing strategy, which sets out the council’s priorities for housing provision for the next three years.
St Albans City and District Council’s strategy aims to influence the future supply of housing and associated services in the district by making the best use of resources to meet housing need.
Councillor Brian Ellis, portfolio holder for housing at St Albans City and District Council, said: "The council’s vision is to provide a range of quality homes working alongside various partners, including housing associations.
"We are looking at ways to make the most of our land and housing stock. As part of this strategy, we are redeveloping our sheltered housing to bring it up to modern standards. We are also redeveloping under-utilised garage sites to provide 56 units of affordable housing over the next three years."
The draft strategy will be considered by Cabinet at its meeting on Thursday March 20 at 7pm.
The draft strategy is available to see online.
